County denies bump money for Bowersville

The Hart County Board of Commissioners voted on Dec. 10 to deny Bowersville SPLOST money to pay for an ill-fated speed bump project.

City to lease, not buy vehicles

People will soon see new police cars and other government vehicles driving the streets of Hartwell over the next few years after the Hartwell City Council voted to enter into a new fleet program with Enterprise on Monday.

Wreaths will honor fallen veterans

The American Legion Post 109 is sponsoring Wreaths Across America in Hart County and will hold a special ceremony at noon on Dec. 14, at the Hart County Courthouse. Wreaths Across America is a national nonprofit organization focused on laying wreaths on graves of veterans across the country.

Cateechee named Chamber Business of the Month

Building a viable Conference Center, Corporate Retreat and Destination Wedding Venue was the goal in March of 2017 when Charly and Kelli Schell purchased Cateechee. They wanted out-of-town guests to connect with Hartwell and keep coming back.

Hart 4-H'ers attend National Congress

Rachel and Ben Tellano from Hart County 4-H represented Georgia at the 2019 National Congress in Atlanta from Nov. 30 to Dec. 3.  More than 800 senior 4-H’ers from around the United States came to the event as state winners.

Chair honors Hartwell's fallen police officer

Royston Police Officer Rick Carter recently discovered that law enforcement ran in his family after researching the name of a fallen officer from Hartwell with no known family.

Holida Bazaar back for another crafty Christmas

The 9th annual Holiday Bazaar hosted by Hart Life Pregnancy Care Center will offer Christmas shoppers a chance to shop locally on Dec. 7. “The vendors are excited and ready for you to shop for your special handmade holiday gifts,” Executive Director of Hart Life Tammy Frye said.
