Animal rescue seeks help to build fence

Hart County Animal Rescue is seeking the community’s help to build a secure fence on the property the nonprofit recently purchased for its new shelter.  The rescue is preparing to renovate buildings on the property it bought across from the Max Saver on U.S.

County appoints new board members

The Hart County Board of Commissioners recently appointed several new members to various county boards and reappointed others.  Kay Ankerich was appointed to the Recreation Advisory Board and will join Bob Frye, Jeff Meitz and Lonnie Robinson, all of whom were reappointed at the Dec.

Shopping with the Dogs

Every year a group of Hartwell Elementary second graders get the treat of Christmas shopping with Hart County High School Seniors during the annual Shopping with the Dogs program. Groups of four seniors pool together $25 each to take a student on a $100 shopping spree at Walmart.

Tax commissioner Pierce to retire

After 15 years of community service, Hart County Tax Commissioner Burl Pierce is retiring before his term is up in 2020.  “It’s been a good 15 years,” Pierce said. “I love people. I love attempting to help people.
