Local dogs find homes up north

Two Hart County dogs now have loving new homes in New Hampshire thanks to two friends, one who works at an assisted living home up north, and another who helps run a rescue program in Hartwell.

An alleged pot grower facing up to 50 years in prison plans to represent himself in court and indicated in court he could challenge the Controlled Substances Act.

Mayor has high hopes for 2020

Creating more housing, encouraging downtown business development and renovating aging assets are among Hartwell Mayor Brandon Johnson’s wishes for 2020.  After a busy 2019, Johnson said he is excited for what the new year will hold for the city of Hartwell.

The sound of oinking pigs could be heard throughout the Hart County AgriScience Center on Dec. 7 as children ranging from kindergarteners to high schoolers cared for and showed off some of the finest swine in the state.

Bowersville declares day for local girl

Bowersville Mayor Jim Jordan ended his last town council meeting as mayor on a positive note Dec. 19. After the regular meeting, Jordan made an official proclamation to dedicate Aug. 25 of every year as “Lainey Jo Moon Day.

With the presidential and congressional elections heating up in 2020, local residents  will also see many county seats up for grabs. The race to be the next sheriff will see competition in the coming year.

One manufacturer closes in 2019, another opens

As one large manufacturing facility in Hart County began the closing process in 2019, another ramped up its activity.  Tenneco began slowing down production in 2019 to close its Hartwell plant as Nestlé-Purina opened its production facility. Tenneco announced in Oct.
