Recycling program at high school expanding

Hart County High School recently expanded its plastic bottle recycling program.
Science teacher, Justin Lee, has worked with the Interact Club recycling plastics in six individual classrooms over the last two years.

Former NFL player gives life advice to students

Only about 7.1 percent of high school senior football players go on to play college football, according to the NCAA. From there, only 1.6 percent make it to the NFL. The percentage of players who are able to have long careers in the NFL are even smaller.

The city of Hartwell is asking for bids for the depot renovation project spearheaded by TORCH after changes to the original plans for the project were approved.

Vacant schools are now on the market

A couple of unoccupied elementary schools are on the market in Hart County.
The Hart County Board of Education voted 5-0 Monday night at its regular meeting to put the Nancy Hart Elementary and Airline Elementary properties up for bid.

Armed robbery suspect arrested

A Hartwell man who allegedly robbed Jimbo’s convenience store at gunpoint Friday night was arrested early Sunday.
Jonveckeo Brown, 38, of Hartwell, was arrested around 2:30 a.m.
