Jingle and Mingle a ladies night out

An event coming to downtown Hartwell will offer local women a chance to “she shop, sip and snack” this December. The Jingle and Mingle event promises to be a ladies’ night out that will include several downtown stores and restaurants from 4-7 p.m. on Dec. 5.

Sheriff’s race shaping up

A local man is hoping to follow in his great-grandfather’s footsteps after recently announcing he’s vying to become the next sheriff of Hart County.

4-H’ers compete at state cotton competition

Seven Hart County 4-H’ers competed in Georgia 4-H’s Area Cotton Boll and Consumer Judging Contest on Oct. 28 at the Chicopee Woods Agricultural Center in Gainesville.

Christmas parade set for Dec. 8

The Hart County Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Christmas Parade at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8. The theme for the floats this year is “Christmas Village” and a prize will be given to the best decorated float.

Nov. 26, 1943 — While most of Hartwell took off work to celebrate Thanksgiving, World War II still raged on overseas and Hart County soldiers didn’t get to celebrate with their families. The Hartwell High School football team didn’t get to rest either.
