County moves forward with homestead exemption

The Hart Board of Commissioners took the first step to increase the homestead exemption on property taxes for seniors in Hart County at its meeting on Monday, March 10. The board approved a resolution to increase the exemption by $5,000. State Rep.

Low-cost spay-neuter program available

The Hart County Humane Society doesn’t have to look far to find inspiration for its low-cost spay and neuter program. The Humane Society of America estimates that of the roughly 70 million stray animals in the U.S.

Hartwell is a tree city again

Hartwell is a tree city once again. The city was named a 2020 Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation in honor of its commitment to effective urban forest management. This year’s recognition marks the 25th year Hartwell has received this recognition.

Spelling Bee to raise money for literacy

The Nancy Hart Literacy Council is hosting its 19th Annual Spelling Bee on March 19 to raise money for  the Adult Learning Center. Teams of three adult spellers will compete against each other at the lower level of the Hart County Adult Learning Center.

Antique Boat Show returns to Hartwell

The unofficial kickoff of the 2020 lake season is right around the corner with the Lake Hartwell Antique Boat Festival on Saturday, April 18. The Blue Ridge Chapter of the Antique and Classic Boat Society will host the festival for the 31st consecutive year at Hartwell Marina.
