School reopening plan set, slimmer budget OK'd

Plans for returning to school amid the coronavirus pandemic were approved by the Hart County Board of Education Monday night along with a budget that includes four furlough days and a $1.8 million cut. Hart County schools are set to return to the classroom on Aug.

July 21, 1918 — Records were kept of who did and didn’t buy war bonds during World War I, and if you didn’t, you could be subject to a “yellow tag.” The Sun reported that yellow tags had arrived in Hartwell to be given to solicitors in the War Savings Stamp campaign.

BoE approves plans for school year

Hart County wrestlers welcome new head coach

The Hart County High School Mat Dogs have a new leader at the helm, and he’s already well acquainted with many of the wrestlers. Former assistant wrestling coach Sean Gaddy was recently tapped to fill the head coaching vacancy left open after former head coach Preston McCalmon resigned  in April.

9th District cooling-bill assistance avilable

Households in Hart County that have not received heating or cooling assistance since November 2019 will again be eligible for the aid through Ninth District Opportunity, Inc., beginning on July 1.  Eligible applicants can contact Ninth District’s scheduling system starting at 12:01 a.m.
