Lady Diamond Dogs have playoff goals

The Hart County High School Lady Dogs’ softball team is back in full swing as they prep for the first game of the season on Friday. “We’ve got a team that could go to the playoffs,” head softball coach Katie Jo Gentry said at practice on Tuesday.

Bulldog running back bound for Blacksburg, Hokies

A standout Hart County High School running back could be headed up to the hills of southwest Virginia after the upcoming school year. Rising senior running back Malachi Thomas announced his commitment to Virginia Tech last week.

GHSA rules let practice begin

Football practice is returning across the state and the Hart County High School Bulldogs are hard at work in the heat as coronavirus-prompted restrictions continue easing.

Bullpups meet new head football coach

The Hart County Middle School football team is back in the weight room with a new head coach leading the charge. The Bullpups hit the weights on Monday with more than 50 student-athletes in attendance for the team’s first day back in action.

Tick Tock: Shot clock rule rocks high school basketball boat

High school hoopsters will soon be faced with a 30-second shot clock ticking down on offense, similar to college and professional basketball games, and local coaches are having mixed reactions to the change.

Local high school golfer wins division

Lady Bulldog golfer Lauren Weaver isn’t letting a global pandemic put a damper on her game. The rising Hart County High School senior captured first place at a Georgia State Golf Association Junior Tour tournament held at Crystal Falls Golf Club on June 22 in Dawsonville.

Back in Action: High school sports workouts begin again

A week into summer conditioning, the Hart County High School football team is hard at work, albeit in a different sort of practice. The team would normally be prepping for, and competing in, 7-on-7 tournaments and contact camps at this time of year.

The clanging of weights and sweat pouring from athletes getting in shape will soon be heard and seen again at Hart County High School.

Perseverance leads to Clemson running dream

Samuel Garringer nearly gave up his dream of running competitively at the collegiate level about a year ago, but he persevered and is now forging his dream into reality.
