A small monument to military veterans who fought in foreign wars was given new life recently after it was found in less than top shape. The Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary memorial was rededicated on Friday, Feb.

Municipal elections on tap in ’21

After a historic 2020 election and a runoff election in Georgia already this year, several municipal positions in Hart County will be decided in 2021. In Hartwell, three seats on the city council  and the mayor’s position will be up for election in 2021.

Local vaccine clinic ramping up virus fight

The vaccine clinic at Flat Shoals Baptist Church is rolling out vaccines for senior citizens, including 104-year-old Doris Mahannah. The goal is for the clinic to administer 100 vaccines per day, according to Hart County administrator Terrell Partain.

Janice Ferguson is loving life

Janice Ferguson admits that even at 94 years old, she dances every chance she gets. “I must confess, I still dance, just when nobody’s watching,” Ferguson said recently in the living room of the Hart County home she shares with her daughter.

Oglethorpe Power donates to Imagination Library

Oglethorpe Power recently presented a check for $1,800 to the Imagination Library of Hart County. The donation will be used to fund one month of free books that will be mailed to all 850 registered children, ages 0-5, in Hart County.
