Medal of Valor given to officer

Officer Matthew Dutton was recently presented with a medal of valor from the Hartwell Police Department for his response to the murder of Correndrick Alexander on Jan. 27, 2020. Dutton, who lived next door to where the murder occurred, was first on the scene on Friendship Road.

Deputy injured in crash

A Hart County deputy suffered injuries including broken bones in a crash as he was responding to a burglary reportedly in progress on Wednesday. Deputy Matt Sparrow was hospitalized following an accident on Ga. Highway 51 on Jan.

Water authority considers request

The Hart County Water and Sewer Authority on Jan. 21 approved the engineering for a request for water service for Mt. Olivet Road, Cleveland Mill Road, Pineview Lane, Oaktree Lane and Reno Drive.

The Hart County Sheriff’s Office reported the following arrests: Jan. 20 • Amy Elizabeth Adams, 40, 64 Highland Avenue, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, possession of drug related objects and criminal attempt to commit a felony.

County buys fingerprint equipment

The process of fingerprinting for firearms licenses could soon be streamlined in Hart County. The Hart County Board of Commissioners voted 5-0 on Tuesday, Jan. 26, to authorize the purchase of fingerprinting technology for the Probate Court to use.

Ridgway firm notes 45th anniversary

Ridgway and Ridgway,  the father-and-son law practice on Chandler Circle, is celebrating 45 years of service in Hart County in 2021. “Coincidently, that’s how old I am,” Robert “Ed” Ridgway III said. “My dad started it the year I was born.” Robert “Bob” Ridgway Jr.
