Man faces charges in deadly crash

A Hartwell man is now facing vehicular homicide charges for allegedly being under the influence of drugs when his truck collided head-on with a car in November 2019, killing the driver of the car. Gregory Luke Carnes, 23, of Hartwell, was indicted by a Hart County Grand Jury on Dec.

Sheriff sworn in for new term

Hart County Sheriff Mike Cleveland, who was re-elected to serve the office he has held since first elected in 2000, was sworn in to office Tuesday morning by Hart County Probate Judge Merry Kirk. Hart County deputies were also sworn in to their positions.

Defendant pleads guilty to murder
