BULLDOGS BATTLE FOR SENIORS

Senior night ended sweetly for the Hart County High School Bulldogs as they downed Stephens County 71-53 on Friday at home and picked up a road win the next night. But the Bulldogs (22-2, 9-2) suffered just their second loss of the season on Tuesday in a 66-48 road loss to Jefferson (14-7, 7-3).

Bulldogs award team for season

An awards banquet for the “uncommon” 2019 Hart County Bulldog football team touted the success the team saw this past season.

Grove, Lady Dogs go off against East Jackson

A career-high scoring night for Shakendra Grove lifted the Hart County Lady Dogs (11-10, 7-3) to a 75-52 victory over East Jackson on Tuesday. Grove knocked down five three-pointers en route to dropping 35 points, a career-high for the senior guard.

Hart’s Webb eclipses the thousand-point mark

Shone “Spudd” Webb was pleasantly surprised when head coach Harry Marsh took a timeout in the second quarter of the Hart County Bulldog’s region match-up with East Jackson on Tuesday. An announcement was made during the timeout that Webb had just eclipsed the 1,000-point career milestone.

Hart anglers take tournament title

A cloudy, overcast morning threatening rain didn’t dampen the Hart County High School Anglers’ success on Saturday as they took first place overall at the Palmetto Boat Center’s (PBC) tournament on Lake Russell.  The club collectively caught 36.

Mat Dogs turn eyes to traditional tournaments

A seventh-place finish at the Area 6-AAA Team Duals tournament over the weekend kept the Hart County Mat Dogs out of the state duals tournament, but now the Bulldogs are turning their eyes towards the traditional tournaments.

Lady Dogs fall in two league losses

A region game slipped out of the hands of the Hart County Lady Dogs on Friday and into the hands of Jackson County (5-14, 3-5) as the Panthers took down Hart 61-58 in Hartwell. The Lady Dogs tripped again on Tuesday, falling 48-35 to Morgan County. It was a tight game from the beginning on Friday.

Hart boys take 2 region wins after loss

Prolific paint scoring propelled the Hart County Bulldogs (16-1, 6-1) to another region victory on Friday as they rebounded from their first loss of the season with a dominating 67-38 win over Jackson County at home.

The third time was not the charm for the Hart County Lady Dogs when they faced Elbert County for the third time this season in the championship round of the McDonald’s Shootout tournament on Dec. 30 in Hartwell. The Hartwell Sun printed early for the Jan.

Dogs take tournament

A second-quarter surge helped the Hart County Bulldogs (15-1) climb out of an early nine-point deficit in a 71-59 win against Wade Hampton (S.C.) to remain undefeated at the time and claim the McDonald’s Shootout championship trophy on Dec. 30 in Hartwell.
