Lady Racket Dogs win prior to play cancellation

The Hart County Lady Racket Dogs started region play strong with a 4-1 victory over East Jackson last Thursday at home, but now the season is at a standstill with cancellations due to the novel coronavirus threat. “It was a good start for our girls to go 1-0 in region,” head coach Kevin Harris said.

Pickleball tournament draws large field

The Second Annual Lake Hartwell March Madness Pickleball tournament was held on March 6 and 7 at the Bell Family YMCA. In total, 174 players making up 87 teams from Georgia and surrounding states participated. The tournament is slowly becoming a significant economic impact for the community.

Soccer teams fall vs. East Jackson, tie Elbert

Both the Hart County boys’ and girls’ soccer teams hosted Elbert County Tuesday night, but no clear victor was declared in either match. Hart’s girls ended the non-region match in a 4-4 tie, while the boys’ rivalry match also resulted in a 2-2 tie. “You know how rivalry games are.

Racket Dogs prepare for region play

A brisk, windy afternoon didn’t stop the Hart County Racket Dogs from taking a 4-1 victory over Stephens County on Friday, but it cost Hart’s girls a tough 2-3 non-region loss as both teams prepare for region play. In the No. 1 singles spot, Chase Jorensen took a 6-1, 6-3 win.

Diamond Dogs take region games

A clutch, lead-stealing line drive single from Luke Lee in the bottom of the sixth plated the go-ahead run for the Hart County Diamond Dogs in a 3-2 region win over Morgan County on Monday at Saye Field.

Track Dogs finish atop invitational

  High finishes in multiple events over the weekend earned the Hart County High School boys Track Dogs a first-place team finish in the Eagle Invitational at East Jackson High School. Hart County’s boys captured first place with 160 points total, beating out second-place Commerce by 31 points.

10U TEAM HEADS TO STATE

The Hart County 10U boys’ basketball team is heading to the Georgia Recreation and Park Association (GRPA) Youth Basketball state tournament on Friday in Tifton after claiming a District 7 championship over the weekend at East Jackson High School.

Soccer struggles in region match

Both the Hart County boys’ and girls’ soccer teams struggled against top-ranked Morgan County on Friday at home. Hart’s girls lost their second region match of the year 8-0 on Friday against Morgan County, who at the time was ranked in the top-ten in the state.

Tennis is back in full swing

Diamond Dogs rally to sweep Stephens

A sixth-inning surge Friday night secured two straight wins over Stephens County for the Hart County High School Diamond Dogs, moving their record to 6-2 (0-0) on the season. Hart County maintained its No. 3 state AAA ranking with the wins, according to georgiadugoutpreview.com.
