Why grow patches of sunflowers?

The love affair goes way back. I’ve always loved digging in the dirt. Maybe it’s the agrarian roots on my mother’s side. Her daddy and his daddy and his daddy walked a thousand miles behind mules. Little wonder I had to have a mule or two or three in my barnyard.

Lake Hartwell FCA to host fifth annual Fields of Faith

Students from Lake Hartwell FCA will join thousands of other youth on athletic fields across the nation on Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2022, to share their Christian faith with fellow students during the annual national Fellowship of Christian Athletes’ (FCA, www.fca.org) Fields of Faith event.

Board of Education approves new LED lights for schools

On Monday, Oct. 17, the Board of Education voted unanimously to allow Georgia Power to install light emitting diode (LED) bulbs in Hart County schools to help save on energy costs.

Depot Days, HartOberFest set for Saturday

Softball team ends season in region tournament

The Hart County High School softball team broke its nine-game losing streak with a win, but ended their season with two losses in the first round of the region tournament. The Lady Diamond Dogs won their final regular season game of the season against Stephens County on  Thursday, Oct. 6.

Hartwell fighter wins Bellator bout in Long Beach

Hartwell fighter CeeJay Hamilton recently won his third fight with MMA promotion Bellator in an unconventional way. On Saturday, Oct. 1, Hamilton, who trains under Chuck Cawthon at Contemporary Martial Arts in Hartwell, traveled to Long Beach, Calif.
