Edwards goes from player to coach

Ben Edwards has now played and coached for both Emmanuel College and Hart County. After Edwards finished his final season with the Dogs, he committed to play basketball for the Emmanuel College Lions.

Mat Dogs scramble at North Oconee

The Mat Dogs traveled to North Oconee High School in Bogart, Georgia on Wednesday, Nov. 23 for the Titans Scramble. “We got to see Monroe Area, North Oconee, Elbert, and Social Circle, which are all good programs,” head coach Sean Gaddy said.

Brown to enter transfer portal

Former Hart County and West Georgia defensive back Jalen Brown has entered the transfer portal. On Monday, Nov. 28. Brown said on Twitter he was grateful for the opportunity to play for the Wolves. “At this time I would like to thank God and my family for this process,” Brown said in the tweet.

1981: A car crashed into the Maryland Fried Chicken Restaurant on Carolina Street. Police estimated the damages to cost $5,000-$7,000. The car was parked on the east side of the building and then was driven in reverse through the window and part of the building.

BOC focuses on residential growth in comprehensive plan

On Nov. 22, the Hart County Board of Commissioners looked to strengthen Hart County’s ability to maintain “its rural heritage” through the Hart County 2022 comprehensive plan in a work session, taking aim at stemming residential growth as the main focus.

Festival of Lights to begin Saturday

The new Festival of Lights event is coming to Hartwell this weekend on Dec. 3 at Railroad Street Park where a splendor of lights will deck the halls for all to enjoy this Christmas season.
The McGee Home, pictured above at 77 Cedar Lane in Hartwell, is one of six unique properties featured on the Dec. 10 Christmas Tour of Homes sponsored by the Hartwell Service League. The tour offers spectators a look at some of the area’s iconic homes, provides a lesson in Hartwell’s architectural history and raises money for children’s literacy in Hart County.

Christmas Tour of Homes returns Dec. 10

The Hartwell Service League’s Christmas Tour of Homes is back this year. Six beautifully decorated homes will be featured on the tour date of Saturday, Dec. 10 from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
