Hart County man indicted for elder exploitation

Attorney General Chris Carr announced June 14 that Lawrence Montgomery, Jr. has been indicted on one count of felony Exploitation of an Elder Person in Hart County. The defendant was the personal representative for an elderly relative who lived in a nursing facility.

The Hart County Sheriff’s Office reported the following arrests:   June 13   Trinity Cody, 20, of Lavonia was arrested and charged with probation violation - DUI. Zachary Koehn, 23, of Carnesville was arrested and charged with probation violation - child molestation.

The Hart County Charter System (HCCS) is taking steps to make sure kids do not go hungry during summer break. “The HCCS summer feeding program is providing meals free-of-charge to any children ages 18 and under,” said  Community Relations Director Grayson Williams.

Lake Hartwell claims victim ahead of Father’s Day Weekend

The Hart County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) recovered the body of a Gwinnett County man near a boat ramp at Paynes Creek Campground on June 17. Constantin Pascal, 44, of Lawrenceville was pulled from 40 feet of water, according to Hart County Sheriff Mike Cleveland.
Erin Isbell, of Hartwell, was crowned Miss Lake Hartwell during the Miss Lake Hartwell pageant Saturday, June 17 in the Lonnie Burns Fine Arts Center at Hart County High School. Isbell was one of 79 contestants for the pageant that was first started in 1971.

Miss Lake Hartwell pageant returns to stage

The return of an al­most  forgotten tradition in Hart County has led to the crowning of a new Miss Lake Hartwell. Erin Isbell, 20, of Hart­well, was given the  high honor on Saturday, June 17 in the theater of the Lonnie Burns Fine  Arts Center at Hart County High School.

Independence Day celebrations have early start

Hart County will get its annual jump on Independence Day celebrations with the 46th Annual Pre-4th Festival set to be held on Saturday. For 46 years, the Hartwell Service League has hosted an event that can only be described as an all-out extravaganza.
