The Hart County Board of Commissioners (BOC) voted to take no action on petitions filed by two property owners petitioning to de-annex from the town limits of Bowersville.

Summer football is underway, and each week leading up to kickoff versus Elbert County, The Hartwell Sun will be breaking down each position group on the 2023 Hart County High School football team.

Special Education students to have the best summer ever

The Special Education students of the Hart County Charter System plan to make the most of their summer with trips and activities schedueled for June and July. It all started on June 5, as students went to the Bell Family YMCA for some games with the YMCA sports director, Kerv Augustin.

The Diamond Dogs return home with gratitude

The Hart County baseball team returns to the States with grateful hearts after their trip to the Dominican Republic. Lake Hartwell FCA area director Chad Posey was in charge of the trip and spoke recently about what the team did each day while serving in the Dominican Republic.

Two Dogs represent Hart in FCA All-Star Classic

Two senior Diamond Dogs competed for Team Georgia in the FCA All Star Classic on June 1 at Emmanuel College. Two seniors from each selected school were able to tap two seniors to compete in the 2023 FCA All-Star Classic.

HCHS softball teaches fundamentals at annual summer camp

The Hart County softball team hosted their annual Lady Bulldog softball camp on June 5-6, teaching campers fundamentals and to also have fun. All of the current high school softball coaches and players were in attendance as they helped run the camp for the 30-plus campers in attendance.
Mattie Weathers won the hot-shot competition for her age group and was also named camper of the week.

The Hart County Sheriff’s Office reported the following arrests:   May 29   Jeremy Rowland, 41, of Hartwell was arrested and charged with financial transaction card fraud. Shameka Cooper, 39, of Hartwell was arrested and charged with DUI and speeding.

Looking to dance on the depot again

When it comes to events in Hartwell, I am loyal to a fault and a traditionalist.  My father and I have attended Cars & Guitars religiously over the years, while my mother and I typically take a quick lap around the Pre-4th Extravaganza annually.
