Commissioners staying clear of connectivity plan

Four out of five members of the Hart County Board of Commisioners (BOC) voiced that the county is staying clear of  the City of Hartwell’s proposal that would connect the downtown area to the Hartwell Lakeside Resort via a series of sidewalks, trails and  bridge.

The Bell Family YMCA will host a youth basketball camp on July 10-14. Bell Family YMCA sports director Kerv Augustin said with this being their second basketball camp of the summer, they want to dive deeper into fundamentals. “We are really excited about basketball camp,” Augustin said.

Little League baseball teams fall in championship

The Hart County Little League 11U and 12U baseball teams made it to the District League Championship, but ultimately fell to Franklin County in both games. “We beat Toccoa 15-0 in three innings on June 23,” Sidney Skelton, the head coach of the 11U team said.

Former Hart County and current University of North Carolina (UNC) defensive end Kaimon Rucker participated in Lift for Life June 30. “Lift for Life is an organization that works to fight off different diseases,” Rucker said.

YMCA finishes final week of summer soccer camps

The YMCA wrapped up their month of June, which was solely focused on soccer, with their scenarios camp June 26 through June 30. Bell Family YMCA sports director Kerv Augustin spoke about the things that the campers from third grade to 12th grade worked on this past week.

The Hart County Sheriff’s Office reported the following arrests:   June 27   Dwishawndrick Brewer, 28, of Hartwell was arrested and charged with probation violation - false name, suspended license, and obstruction to officers.
