Shopping with the Dogs provides gifts for children

Hartwell Elementary second-graders didn’t get to go shopping with Hart County High School seniors on Monday, Dec. 14, but they still received gifts from them through the ninth annual Shop With The Dogs program. Groups of four seniors contributed $25 each to purchase gifts for second-graders.

Hart wrestlers take Towns County tournament

The “King of the Mountain” title now belongs to the Hart County High School wrestling team. The Mat Dogs captured a first-place team finish at the perennially-difficult King of the Mountain tournament in Towns County on Saturday, Dec. 5 where they hoisted the tournament trophy.

Hartwell to make final payment on city hall

Hartwell City Hall will be paid off in full after the city council authorized the final payment at the Dec. 7 meeting. The payment of $26,400 will pay off the $3.6 million project that was completed in 2012. “Usually what you do is burn the note,” mayor Brandon Johnson said.
