Local ministry builds, opens Haitian hospital

A pregnant woman who walked off the streets in emergency labor is alive today along with her child thanks to a local ministry that recently opened the doors to its new medical facility in the remote town of Gallette Chambon, Haiti.

Voter turnout setting records locally, statewide

Turnout on the first day of early voting set records across the state, and it was no different in Hart County. Elections coordinator Robin Webb told The Sun more than 1,100 people voted in Hart County during the first two days of advanced in-person voting.

Party will reinforce lessons

First graders at Hartwell Elementary School will be reviewing their units with a twist. Teacher Meghan Harris likes to throw review parties for her students, but thanks to the Bright Idea grant she can now do the party for the whole grade.

Grant supports math education at home

Second-grade teacher Andrea Gibbs is providing her Hartwell Elementary students with the tools to make learning at home easier. With money from a Hart EMC Bright Ideas Grant, Gibbs plans to buy 24 take-home math manipulative sets for her students.
