Grant to help teacher buy manipulatives for students

Kindergarten teacher Hannah Jordan wants to provide more opportunities for her students to get hands-on learning at Hartwell Elementary. Using money provided by the Hart EMC Foundation’s Bright Ideas Grant, Jordan is buying manipulatives for her students to use at learning centers.

Hartwell Church of God welcomes new pastor team

Pastors Jeremy and Dusty Massengill had to get to know their new congregation earlier this year via phone calls and social meedia. It wasn’t how they envisioned getting acquainted with Hartwell Church of God, but the COVID-19 pandemic had other plans.

Hartwell native takes command of support group

COLUMBUS AIR FORCE BASE, Miss. -- Col. Jeffery Welborn, 14th Mission Support Group commander, took command of the 14th MSG at a change of command ceremony on July 13, at Columbus Air Force Base, Mississippi. Welborn is the son of Howard Welborn, of Hartwell, and the late Joyce Walters.

VFW Auxiliary raises $27K for American VetDogs

From the waist up, Joe Worley, of Douglasville, doesn’t look like he would need any help from a service dog. He is taller than six feet by a few inches and has a strong, athletic build. From the waist down, however, you see why he keeps Galaxie, his trusty service dog with him all the time.
