Nov. 19, 1948 — Hartwell had a rat problem that required an extermination campaign by the Georgia State Department of Health. Four cases of typhus fever in the area in recent months caused Mayor Wilson Page and the Board of Aldermen to look into the matter.

HYDRA hosting Thanksgiving holiday school break camp

Hart Youth Development Resource Association, or HYDRA, is hosting a school break camp from Nov. 23-25. The camp is open to children from kindergarten to eighth grade and includes breakfast, lunch and snacks. The camp will run each day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Confirmed COVID-19 cases and deaths are still rising in Hart County as the White House added Georgia back into the “red zone” for coronavirus cases this week. Hart County is still considered a “high transmission” county for COVID-19, according to the Department of Public Health.
