U.S. Congressman Andrew Clyde recently toured the facilities at the Hart College and Career Academy, leaving high remarks regarding the efforts of the Hart County Charter System to prepare all students for tomorrow’s challenges.

After several months of single-digit active COVID case numbers, Hart County has seen an increase in cases, while neighboring Franklin County is enduring a spike. On June 9, Hart County had 10 confirmed COVID cases in one day, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health.

Bowersville to host ‘Bull Days’ in September

Local fans of western sports like bullfighting and rodeo can make plans for Sept. 24-25 in Bowersville, which will host a pair of shows on the Ultimate Bullfighters circuit. The town hosted an event with the organization last September as well.

Hartwell-based fighter Cee Jay Hamilton will be fighting in his first main-card event with Bellator MMA, on Friday night. Hamilton will be fighting in the bantamweight bout of Bellator 262 at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut on July 16 at 9 p.m.

From the outside, Jennifer Cobb appeared to be the average girl from Hart County. She loved to make people laugh. She loved animals, especially her German shepherd Abby Gail. She loved the outdoors and the ocean. She loved gymnastics, swimming, skiing, fishing and camping.

By Josh Brannen Staff writer Hart County Animal Rescue got back in action over the weekend. On Saturday after a year of no public events due to COVID, Hart County Animal Rescue hosted an Independence PAWTY at The Hartwell Yacht Club. One of the dogs that is in the Rescue now is named Lucy.

On May 22, the John Benson Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution honored Catherine Cleveland Harrison with a memorial service at her gravesite in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park Cemetary in Hartwell. Her grave was marked and unveiled with the emblem of the national organization.
