BOC considers subdivision proposals

Hart County’s need for housing led to discussion on approving two subdivisions at the Hart County Board of Commissioners’ meeting on June 22. Both subdivisions in question are located near the intersection of Swan Sanders Road and Reed Creek Highway.

Main Street surveys public on downtown

The Hartwell Main Street is conducting an ongoing survey to prepare for their annual planning session in July. The city has released some early results.

North Hart 4th grader named ‘National Young Miss’

Hartwell 9-year-old Andie Jane Holmes was crowned America’s National Young Miss in Atlanta on June 12, competing against young girls from all over the United States and finishing on top.

African Americans across Hart County and the country celebrated Juneteenth, which is short for June 19, last Saturday.

Spelling teams meet at adult learning center for annual bee

The Hart County Adult Learning Center was packed Thursday, June 17 in attendance of the 19th annual adult spelling bee. Minds were racing and pens were scratching, as five teams consisting of three spellers each competed for $25 gift cards and the all-important bragging rights.

The revitalization of Railroad Street, an idea first proposed in 2012, is hitting a major milestone with the opening of the Railroad Street Park.

HARTWELL TWISTER SPOTLIGHT: Maddie Dault

Maddie Dault started gymnastics classes at the age of two and started competing in 2017. Her favorite event is uneven bars. Her two favorite skills are a handstand back hand-spring combination on the balance beam and a front   aerial on the floor.
