City council starts plans for new fire station

The Hartwell City Council took the first “baby steps” to building a new fire station in the city. The council approved to begin to seek requests for proposals for engineering and construction services at its meeting Monday, June 7.

A Night of New Beginnings: Class of 2021 graduates Hart County High School

The 2021 school year came to a close Friday, June 4, with Hart County High School seniors walking across the stage to receive their diplomas. This graduating class faced one of the most difficult years in recent memory by trying to continue their education with the looming threat of COVID-19.

Police crowded Hartwell square around Southern Hart Brewing Company on Wednesday, June 2. “We was having a cops on the square night out,” Hartwell Police chief Anthony Davis said. Davis denied the police’s show of force was due to bike groups attending Southern Hart’s “Bike Night.

Woman releases Hartwell memoir series

A local women is publishing a collection of community memoirs more than 35 years in the making. Frances Floyd has been gathering memories from Flat Shoals Baptist Church members, former members and others in the community  since the church’s centennial celebration in 1985.
