City receives grant for historic structure surveys

The city of Hartwell was awarded a $7,200 historic preservation grant by the Georgia Department of Georgia Communities earlier this month. The Hartwell Historic Preservation Commission will receive the money to pay for surveys of the historic districts and historic-designated properties in Hartwell.

Local groups partner to build Railroad Street breezeway

A new addition to downtown Hartwell will make it easier for people to go between Depot Street and the new Railroad Street Park. The owner of Chicago Steakhouse is subleasing the building at 41 Depot St.

‘Peter Pan’ kicks off community theater junior productions

Friday’s performance of Peter Pan was the culmination of the Hart County Community theater’s first junior workshop. The theater has been doing the children’s workshop for over 20 years. However, this was the first Camp especially for teens. The teens had two weeks to work on the one hour show.

Rowland Auctions opens for business

By Josh Brannen Staff writer Rowland Auctions officially opened for business at 8 Benson Street in Hartwell with a blue ribbon cutting event Friday. Owner Angie Rowland got the idea of becoming an auctioneer when her husband suggested she would be successful at it.
