Lady Dogs drop region contest in return to court

Fresh off a quarantine stint that hasn’t allowed them to play since Jan. 4, the Lady Dogs fell to region rival Stephens County at home Tuesday. The Lady Dogs (8-6, 0-1)suffered a 53-38 loss in their first game back since being quarantined.

Mat Dogs bring home first-ever title

For the first time in school history, the Hart County High School Mat Dogs have claimed a region championship in duals wrestling. The Region 8-AAA trophy went home with the Mat Dogs on Saturday, Jan.

No. 2 Bulldogs rolling through region schedule

Region opponents have been no match so far for the Hart County High School boys basketball team as the Bulldogs outscored their last  two region foes by more than 25 points each. The No. 2 Bulldogs (12-3, 3-0) handed region rivals Stephens County a 72-40 thumping Tuesday, Jan.

DOGS WIN REGION DEBUT

Grayson Williams Staff writer A big region win on Friday night was followed by a close loss on Saturday for the No. 2 Hart County High School boys’ basketball team, while one Bulldog hoopster landed on national television with an incredible highlight.

Wrestlers continue winning ways

Two region rivals fell at the hands of the Hart County High School Mat Dogs on Tuesday in Franklin County as the team preps for the upcoming area duels tournament. The Mat Dogs soundly defeated Stephens County 61-15 and Franklin County 57-19 on Jan.

Little League registration is open

Hart County Little League baseball and softball registration is open and organizers are hopeful for a complete season in 2021 after the 2020 season was canceled due to COVID-19 concerns. Registration is open online at www.hartcoll.org and will be available in person from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Wrestlers notch wins at East Hall

The Hart County High School Mat Dogs grappled to victory over two non-region opponents on the road Tuesday. In a tri-meet at East Hall on Tuesday, Jan. 5, the Mat Dogs out-wrestled East Hall 66-15 and Centennial High 64-9 in duals matches.

Shootout Champs

The McDonald’s Shootout championship trophy is staying in Hartwell. The No. 2-ranked Hart County High School boys’ basketball team (9-2) secured the championship with a 59-51 victory over Loganville on Wednesday, Dec. 30 at home after sweeping the tournament.
