Wrestlers notch wins at East Hall

The Hart County High School Mat Dogs grappled to victory over two non-region opponents on the road Tuesday. In a tri-meet at East Hall on Tuesday, Jan. 5, the Mat Dogs out-wrestled East Hall 66-15 and Centennial High 64-9 in duals matches.

The McDonald’s Shootout championship trophy is staying in Hartwell. The No. 2-ranked Hart County High School boys’ basketball team (9-2) secured the championship with a 59-51 victory over Loganville on Wednesday, Dec. 30 at home after sweeping the tournament.

Lady Dogs bounce back in win

Despite dropping to fourth place in the McDonald’s Shootout tournament, the Hart County High School Lady Dogs’ basketball team (8-5) bounced back Monday with a tight 45-43 win over Rabun Gap-Nacoochee.

Jiu jitsu students earn medals

Hart County High School wrestler Scout Lewis captured gold over the weekend as she finished in first place at the Women’s Warrior Classic in Toombs County. Lewis went unbeaten at 5-0 in the tournament.

A 42-point victory over South Atlanta Tuesday night sent the Hart County High School basketball team to the championship round of the annual Bulldog-hosted McDonald’s Shootout tournament in Hartwell. The No. 3-ranked Bulldogs (8-1) drubbed South Atlanta 80-38 on Tuesday, Dec.

The Hart County High School football team dominated the all-region squad this year. The Bulldogs saw 21 of its players land on the Region 8-AAA all-region team, including six first-team selections. Running back Malachi Thomas earned first-team honors.
