April 14, 1977 — A new “Superman” joined the City of Hartwell Fire Department’s force. The department received a new aerial ladder truck that was “like Superman”, The Sun reported, because it was able to reach the tallest building.

Hart County adds another confirmed COVID-19 case

Hart County now has four confirmed cases of COVID-19, according to the noon report from the state Department of Public Health.  Franklin county also now has four cases. Elbert County is reporting three cases and Stephens County has amassed 19. None of those counties are reporting any deaths.

Strong storms cause damage in Hart

A line of severe weather that spawned tornados and is reported to have killed more than 30 people from Louisiana to South Carolina on Easter Sunday and Monday downed trees and damaged property in Hart County.

Shelter in place extended through April

The Hart County Sheriff’s Office reported the following arrests: March 31 • Lebarron Gray, 30, 64 Vickery Street, was arrested and charged with DUI alcohol. He was released on $2,000 bond.

Man shot in apparent drive-by shooting

A man is recovering from a gunshot wound to the back and investigators are looking for a person of interest after a drive-by shooting in Hart County on Friday. Hart County Sheriff’s deputies responded to Pierce Brown Road around 5:30 p.m.
