County moves on annexation agreement

Hart County and the city of Hartwell are another step closer towards reaching an agreement for the annexation of Hartwell Lakeside into the city, but the county wants the city to enter into an agreement before giving a recommendation to the Army Corps of Engineers.

Deputies seize 350 grams of meth

More than 350 grams of methamphetamine is off the streets and two suspected local drug dealers have been arrested after a three-week investigation led by the Hart County Sheriff’s Office.

Warrants detail Oglesby investigation

A more than 900 page stack of court documents recently unsealed suggests Hart County Commissioner R.C. Oglesby and several of his family members were involved in what authorities say was an organized crime scheme involving drug sales, EBT card fraud, theft and an abuse of power.

The Hart County Sheriff’s Office reported the following arrests: May 19 • Jonathan Andrew Harned, 30, 402 Providence Church Road, Lavonia, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and third-degree cruelty to children.

May 17, 1912 Cattle ticks seemed to stir up some trouble for local farmers in 1912. The Sun reported that the quarantine law was raised from Hart County except for a few farms where the cattle tick had not yet been eradicated. A letter sent to the cattle inspector, C.H.N.

High school sports activities can begin again June 8

High school sports teams in Georgia will be permitted to begin conditioning on June 8 with certain restrictions in place. The Georgia High School Association met with its Board of Trustees Thursday afternoon to discuss the plans for returning to team sports activities.
