County considers cats for animal control ordinance

Local residents are urging county commissioners to consider adding language regarding feral cats to the county’s animal ordinance. The group demonstrated outside of the Hart County Board of Commissioners office, located at 800 Chandler Street, before the board’s regular meeting last Tuesday, May 25.

A Toccoa man has been indicted under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act for allegedly acting as a licensed electrician and not completing jobs, defrauding people throughout Georgia of thousands of dollars, court records allege.

‘Safari’ petting zoo opens in Reed Creek area

The owners of Sam’s Path Petting Zoo have created an animal adventure close to home. Jeff and Jodi Gray, the operators of the local travelling petting zoo, opened the Lake Hartwell Wildlife Safari, a drive-thru safari, in the Reed Creek area of Hart County  last weekend.

Post office tightens package delivery policy

Many people have received a slip of paper in their Hartwell post office box that says as of June 1, the post office will no longer be able to deliver any packages addressed only to your street address. Postmaster Doug Bailey clarified the services the post office will no longer be providing.
