Hartwell-based fighter Cee Jay Hamilton will be fighting in his first main-card event with Bellator MMA, on Friday night.

PAWTY at Hartwell Yacht Club

Hart County Animal Rescue got back in action over the weekend.
On Saturday after a year of no public events due to COVID, Hart County Animal Rescue hosted an Independence PAWTY at The Hartwell Yacht Club.
One of the dogs that is in the Rescue now is named Lucy.

On May 22, the John Benson Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution honored Catherine Cleveland Harrison with a memorial service at her gravesite in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park Cemetary in Hartwell.
Her grave was marked and unveiled with the emblem of the national organization.

A Georgia state trooper may have saved the life of a Hartwell-native after he fell out of his bucket truck.
Hart Telephone Company worker, Chris Minervino, 50, fell out of his bucket truck while working in Martin on June 25.

The City of Hartwell could soon be adding wayfinding signs to the downtown area.
Main Street coordinator Peggy Vickery is spearheading the efforts to install the directional signs which point to Hartwell landmarks and amentities.

Sheriff’s Office introduces scent kits for wanderers

The Hart County Sheriff’s office is offering Scent Evidence kits to better track people with a propensity to wander.
The kits are comprised of an airtight jar and a piece of gauze that can be used to swab the person’s underarm and save the scent for bloodhounds to track if the person gets lost.

Armando Esteban Sanchez Martinez, 22, of Greer, S.C. was pulled out of Lake Hartwell by another individual in the area on the afternoon of Sunday, July 4.
