When Hart County’s Anna Welch was watching the sunset outside her lake home this time two years ago, she pulled out her iPhone and knew she nailed the shot. It didn’t matter that she wasn’t using an expensive camera. “The sky was just vibrant orange that night,” Welch remembered.

Local woman turns 105

Hart County’s Doris Mahannah celebrated her 105th birthday with her church, Hartwell First Presbyterian Church, on Sunday, June 27. Mahannah, who moved to Hartwell in 2012, has lived through two pandemics and beat cancer twice.

Pre-Fourth returns to Hartwell

Hartwell residents made the most of the return of the Pre-Fourth festival over the weekend. A relatively cool Saturday morning brought out an exuberant crowd for the children’s parade along Franklin Street.
