Community holding benefit event for hospitalized woman

There will be a benefit plate and raffle ticket Sale held for Shotonda Leann Hazzard on August 28, 2021 at 12 p.m. The benefit will be held at Christian Worship Assembly Total Life Center located at 3874 Royston Hwy, Hartwell, GA, 30643. On July 30, Leann went into cardiac arrest while on her job.
A tropical depression rolled through Hartwell Tuesday and caused little reported damage. One exception was at Seed Cleaner Road off Royston Highway, seen above, where five tress had fallen into the road. Contractors had removed the trees by midday Tuesday.

Tornado warning issued in Hart Co.; minimal damage reported

A tropical depression brought tornado warnings and a flash flood watch to Hart County early Tuesday. By Wednesday, local public safety officials reported minimal damage to the area aside from a handful of trees fallen in neighborhoods.

Hartwell councilman Hicks named vice president of GMA

ATLANTA – Hartwell City Councilman Tray Hicks was elected second vice president of the Georgia Municipal Association’s (GMA) District 2 during the association’s annual convention in Savannah on Aug. 8. He is now in line to become president of the district, according to a GMA release.

Linda Gunter of Love Him Love Them reports that all six locations including the ministry’s hospital, transition home, orphanages, churches and schools all remained safe during the 7.2 magnitude earthquake that hit Haiti on Saturday, Aug. 14 at 8:30 a.m.

BOE contracts new lawn care group

The Hart County Board of Education decided on a new system lawn care service for the school system at their monthly meeting on Aug. 8. Superintendent Jay Floyd said the new service provider, Blade Runner Outdoor Services, will provide all-inclusive services.
