Sheriff’s Office braving pandemic, saving lives

The recent surge in COVID-19 cases in Hart County has made it more difficult and more dangerous for law enforcement officers. In 2020, and so far in 2021, COVID-19 is the leading cause of death for law enforcement officers in the United States, according to The Officer Down Memorial Page, Inc.

County appraiser contests figures in tax digest

By Josh Brannen Staff writer   At its Aug. 25, the Hart County Board of Commissioners discussed the quarterly tax digest report submitted to chief appraiser Wayne Patrick, who expressed some frustration with how the Department of Audits calculates its tax ratios.

Authorities team up to reenact cold case, shock high schoolers

Submitted by HCCS   Sirens blared as a Hart County Sheriff’s deputy, and eventually fire trucks, ambulances, investigators, and the coroner arrived outside Hart County High School Monday morning. A class of students had stumbled upon a crime scene — a dead body inside of a dumpster.
