A car at the drive-thru window of Popeyes Chicken in Hartwell engulfed in flames Tuesday. The car, occupied by a family of five was picking up food when their vehicle caught fire. No one was harmed and the cause of the fire is unknown.

Hartwell city police and firemen were dispatched to Popeyes Chicken around 12:10 p.m. Tuesday in response to a car that had caught fire in the fast food restaurant’s drive-thru line.

SkillsUSA takes home state titles

The Hart County High School SkillsUSA team brought home two state championships and four medals in total from the State Conference over the weekend.
The State Leadership and Skills Conference was in-person this year and featured 147 schools competing with 2,198 registered attendees.

Moratorium time must be spent wisely

Last Tuesday, the Hart County Board of Commissioners approved a wide-ranging moratorium on new subdivision developments, one which disallows development permits of subdivisions that would be built along county roads.
