Soccer Dogs win on the road

Both soccer teams secured wins in Athens on Tuesday, March 23. The Soccer Dogs traveled to Athens to play the Athens Christian Eagles. The boys team won, 4-2. Senior Tyler Trujillo scored two goals. Sophomore Axsel Farjardo and freshman Chaston Lewis each scored one goal.

Botanical Garden hosts religious education class

Teens from the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church Religious Education Class, Hartwell, recently spent a morning working in the Hart County Botanical Garden. They cleared brush and learned about invasive plants. (Front L-R) Joanna Nguyen, Jamie Orbe and Catherine Nguyen.

1925: The movie “America” was shown at The Star Theatre in Hartwell where movie goers were charged a whopping 25-50 cents to watch it. The movie was ascertained by one Ohio tourist going through Hartwell when he caught an advertisement posted by The Sun.

Legislative wrap-up: week 10

The House reconvened on March 15, 2022, Crossover Day, spending the day debating and voting, passing almost 60 bills and resolutions by the time we adjourned around 11 p.m.

Lake Hartwell blessed to host Bassmaster Classic again

Sometimes we like to take a step back and reflect upon how truly fortunate we are to be living here in Hart County. The lake we reside on hosting a nationally relevant sporting event is just another feather in the cap.

The Hart County Retired Educators met at the Hart County Schools Agricultural Center on March 1, 2022, with President Pam Gordon presiding. The two guest speakers at this meeting were Christina Silpe of the H.I.M. and Lisa McKenzie of the AMBA. Christina Silpe is the Executive Director of H.I.M.
