Hart County named AP Honor School

The Georgia Department of Education announced recently that Hart County High School is one of 88 schools in the state being named to the list of Advanced Placement (AP) Honor Schools for 2022.

Dog park to be rededicated

The Hartwell Service League is holding an event to raise awareness about the dog park in Hart County. “We just decided since so many people didn’t know about it, that we would have an event there just to bring it to the attention of the community,” event co-chairman Lucy Rowland said.

Couple celebrates 70 years

Douglas and June Hilley celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on April 5, 2022. They were wed on April 5, 1952 by Reverend Donald Harris at the Sardis Baptist Church Pastorium in Hartwell, Georgia. Mr. and Mrs.

Gubernatorial candidate Kandiss Taylor makes stop in Hartwell

Georgia gubernatorial candidate Kandiss Taylor stopped in Hartwell on her bus tour through northeast Georgia on Tuesday. Taylor, who has been a school counselor for 19 years and served on the Appling County Board of Education, considers herself a “grassroots” candidate.

City, DOT discuss traffic study logistics

Hartwell is moving forward with a traffic study on several intersections, following a traffic committee meeting with the Georgia Department of Transportation. At the April 4 Hartwell City Council meeting, council member Mike MacNabb reflected on the traffic committee’s correspondence with GDOT.

Tennis teams win against Monroe

The Hart County tennis teams had a good week, with the girls team winning three of their match-ups. On Friday, March 25, Hart hosted Monroe Area. The boys team won, 4-1. No. 1 singles Daniel Leard  won, 6-1, 6-0. No. 2 and 3 single Jackson Daniel and Zander Horne won by forfeit. The no.
