Piatigorsky wows audience

The Friends of the Hart County Library hosted another installment of the Piatigorsky Foundation concert series at the Hartwell First United Methodist Church on Tuesday, April 19. Concert goers were enthralled by the works of Igor Begelman, clarinet, and George Lopez, piano.

Hart celebrates Easter

Churches and families across the county celebrated the Christian holiday of Easter on Sunday, April 17. While some Easter egg hunts were postponed due to weather, church goers flocked to their places of worship in droves.

District 4 candidate: ‘time for a change’

Last month, local farmer and businessman Jeff Brown qualified as a candidate for the Hart County Board of Commissioners District 4 seat. Brown is set to face off against incumbent Ricky Carter in the Republican primary election held May 24.

Hart County senior Peyton Powell was recently named to the National Football Foundation (NFF) Team of Distinction in recognition of his many accomplishments on the field and in the classroom.

Laws of Life essay winners announced

Story submitted by HCCS   The Hart County High School Laws of Life Essay Contest winners were recently announced, with one local winner earning a top spot in the state. Jacob Shirley was named the 12th grade winner. Riley Sokol is the 11th grade winner and was also named the school-wide winner.

Chief: pedestrian reports being struck by vehicle while on bicycle

Hart County and Hartwell city emergency units reported to the scene of a vehicle hitting a pedestrian along Franklin Street on Tuesday at about 3:20 p.m. Hartwell Police chief Anthony Davis said that the driver, a male in a silver Jeep, allegedly hit a woman on her bicycle near Maple Street.
