The impetus, defined as:  the force that makes something happen, often comes from someone else, like a friend, co-worker, boss or perhaps like me — a cousin. Because my first cousin Nancy grew up in College Park, Md. and was three years older than me, we were never really close.

An audit of finances for the Franklin-Hart Airport Authority will be referred to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Franklin County Commission Chairman Jason Macomson said Tuesday that a draft audit report had been received.

Superintendent retires after 7 years

Hart County Superintendent Jaybez (Jay) Floyd announced his retirement at a called Charter System meeting Monday, April 25. Floyd has been at the helm of Hart County’s school system since summer 2015 and spent 34 years total in education.

Girls tennis goes to state playoffs

The girls tennis team advanced to the state playoffs after finishing fourth in the region tournament. Both tennis teams competed in the region tournament on Tuesday, April 12. The boys team went in as the No. 5 seed and ended the tournament placed in fifth, just shy of a state playoff bid.

Softball looking for state title repeat

The Hart County High School slow-pitch softball team is again competing for a state championship in 2022. After finishing the regular season 6-2, the reigning champion Lady Diamond Dogs went to sectionals on Wednesday, April 13. First, they came back from a 3-0 deficit to win over Creekview, 5-3.

Soccer Dogs fall in first round of state playoffs

The Hart County High School boys soccer team fell in the first round of the playoffs in a hard-fought match with a No. 1 seed. The team traveled to North Murray High School to play the Mountaineers, who were undefeated in region this season.
