Floyd receives parting gift from colleagues

Retiring School Superintendent Jay Floyd was honored last night at a cookout hosted by his staff. He was given several gifts including this photo of the Victory Bell at Herndon Stadium. The framed photo was taken by local photographer Bill Powell.

Pelican’s SnoBalls receives facade grant

Pelican’s SnoBalls, located on Railroad Street, recently received a $1,000 facade grant from Hartwell Main Street. The grant is intended to encourage current and future businesses to renovate or continue to keep up the appearance of their buildings.

Kids kick it at soccer camp: YMCA begins summer camps with soccer

The Bell Family YMCA held a soccer camp this week for young players to sharpen their skills. The camp was the first of five camps offered this summer for kids under the age of 14. Due to the extreme heat, the camp was moved indoors this week into the gym.
