New MedLink facility planned for Benson Street

On Tuesday, July 12, the Hart County Board of Commissioners voted in favor of annexing county property to the city of Hartwell in order to pave the way for a new MedLink facility.

The Elberton Star releases The Georgia Guidestones special edition

HCHS coach to be inducted into Georgia Southern Hall of Fame

Hart County High School football and girls track coach Taz Dixon was recently announced as a new member of the Georgia Southern Athletics Hall of Fame. Dixon played football at Georgia Southern from 1986 to 1989 and set six school records while on the team.

Local trainer sets records in powerlifting meet

A 68-year-old Hartwell man set three state records at a local powerlifting meet. David Leard, a fitness trainer at the Bell Family YMCA, competed in his first USPA powerlifting meet in Toccoa on June 25 and set three state records in his age  and weight group of 82.5 kg Master 65-69.

An idea that stemmed from a passion for running turned into a new 5K race in Hartwell. Race director Brad Cuevas said the first annual Historic  Hartwell 5K was a big success on Saturday, July 2. “We started out with a goal of 40 people.
