Longworth named Teacher of the Year

The Hart County Charter System announced last week that elementary school teacher David Longworth is the 2022-2023 System Teacher of the Year. The announcement was made at the district’s Convocation on July 27, which gathers employees across the district prior to the beginning of the school year.

Hart Co. High School to face new Region 8 opponent this year

Hart County High School’s region AAA Region 8, has swapped out one team for another for the upcoming school year. Former region opponent, East Jackson, has been moved to AA and replaced with Hebron Christian Academy, a school in Dacula.

Swimmer takes reigns as coach to keep program alive

When rising senior Savannah Stanish heard the YMCA swim coach was not returning this year, she stepped up to keep the program going. “I knew that our coach was leaving and the swim team meant so much to me. I wanted it to keep going,” Stanish said.

Remembering some playful mischief

Pranks. I love the playful mischief of a harmless practical joke. And last week, I got pranked pretty well. Cantaloupe? Summertime is bounty-from-the-garden time. When I stopped by my friend’s office, Adam asked, “Would you like one of our cantaloupes?” “Sure,” I said.

Best of Hartwell keeps getting better

Another Best of Hartwell edition has come and gone and we, once again, were blown away by the participation and enthusiasm this community showed. In this, our sixth year of holding the contest, voters set another record for turnout after shattering the previous mark in 2021.

EMC holds annual convention; Leard voted onto board

The annual meeting held by the Hart Electric Membership Corporation (EMC) always draws a big crowd, and this year was no exception, with 730 people in attendance. The meeting was held on Thursday, July 21 at Hart County High School.
