All Hart County students again received the majority of their school supplies free of charge due to the CARES Act funding.

Students receive school supplies via CARES funds

School supplies will once again be provided to Hart County Charter Sytem students free of charge this upcoming school year. ESSER II funds (also referred to as as CARES II funds) were used to purchase school supplies for all students. Supplies include backpacks but not headphones or earbuds.

Georgia’s State School Superintendent, Richard Woods, addressed a meeting of the Hart County Republican Party on Saturday, July 16. Woods will be running for a third term in November, and he took this opportunity to discuss future initiatives within the Georgia education system.

Historic Preservation Commission finalizes guidelines for city buildings

The Hartwell Historic Preservation Commission (HPC), the seven-member board appointed by Mayor Brandon Johnson and the Hartwell City Council, recently announced the publication of the most current policies and regulations regarding historic preservation in the city’s key historic districts.

Band camp underway; program reveal awaits

Strike up the band once again! The Hart County High School Bulldog Marching Band will host a ‘Sneak-A-Peak’ on Friday afternoon in Herndon Stadium at Hart County High School. The band will step off at 4:45 p.m. to present its halftime show for 2022.

Cateechee owners' passing leaves 'void' in Hartwell

Cateechee Golf Club owners Charles (Charly) and Kelli Schell died in a plane crash near Bighorn National Forest, Wyoming on July 14, according to friends and family.

Star Fleet burglarized

On Wednesday, July 6, the Hart County Sheriff’s Office responded to a burglary at Star Fleet Auto Sales and Rentals. Business owners Larry and Robby Johnson reported the burglary Wednesday morning after discovering several missing items stolen from within their building.
