YMCA gears up for a big winter

The Bell Family YMCA of Hartwell is set to host soccer, basketball, and volleyball leagues and programs during the winter. The first program the YMCA will begin to offer this winter will be the Kick in Confidence Youth Soccer Training Program.

Senior point guard set to lead the Lady Dogs in her final season

Senior point guard Dakota Phillips looks to play a big role in her final season with the Lady Dogs. Flashback to 2020, Phillips was named a starter as a freshman, but many people knew then that she could semester herself as one of the best to ever wear the orange and black for the Lady Dogs.

Basketball splits against Patriots in scrimmage

The Hart County High School boys and girls basketball teams traveled to Lexington to take on Oglethorpe County in a scrimmage to start the season, and split against the Patriots. On Nov. 9, the HCHS boys and girls basketball teams tipped off their season in a scrimmage game against the Patriots.

Deputies arrest two in major Hart County drug bust

On Friday, Oct. 6, 2023, deputies from Hart County Sheriff’s Department and Elbert County Sheriff’s Department arrested two subjects. The arrest warrant was from Elbert County, for 327 Bailey Road in Hart County.

Hartwell hosts Veterans Day Parade November 11

American Legion Post 109 of Hartwell hosted a salute to America’s heroes Nov. 11 at the Veteran’s Day parade in downtown Hartwell. The parade began at Hart County High School and wrapped through downtown before concluding at the Ace Hardware shopping center.

Hart County Students Compete in Public Speaking Event

On Saturday, Nov. 4, 49 Hart County children participated in a speech competition, where they were able to simultaneously share their interests with their peers and gain confidence in public speaking.

Hart County man assists deputies in arrest at local restaurant

On Nov. 13, 2023, Hart County Sheriff Mike Cleveland recognized three deputies and a Hart County citizen, presenting them with plaques for their bravery concerning an incident that occurred over the summer.
