After a slow two minutes, the Lady Dogs offense dominated in the 62-35 win over the Lady Raiders of Madison County. Hart traveled down to Dainelsville on Nov. 28 to take on the Lady Raiders of Madison County.

Grant funds available for Georgia wildlife viewing opportunities

Through the Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ Wildlife Viewing Grants Program, the state is now aiding funds for wildlife projects that allow the public to observe animals, plants, and habitats covered by their Wildlife Action Plan.

Weekend car chase has fatal consequences

Around 10 p.m. on Friday, a fatal crash occurred following a high-speed pursuit on GA 77 South. Georgia State Patrol Trooper Corporal William Jordan of GSP Post 52 Hartwell provided details about the ongoing investigation.

Cornerstone Baptist Church to host holiday bazaar

Over 50 artists, crafters, and designers will be showcased this weekend at the 14th annual Hart Life Holiday Bazaar Dec. 2 at the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Hartwell. Hart Life’s Executive Director Tammy Frye says the holiday bazaar has become a community tradition.

Christmas tour of homes returns Dec. 9

The Hartwell Service League annual Christmas Tour of Homes comes back to Hart County Dec. 9 for its twentieth year. This year, five festively decorated homes will be featured on the tour which runs from one end of the county to the other. The tour begins at 10:30 a.m. and runs through 4:30 p.m.

Poverty Task Force brainstorms assessment strategies

The Hart County Poverty Task Force met on the morning of Nov. 28 at the Adult Learning Center to evaluate how to determine and address the needs of locals living under the poverty threshold. The lengthy discussion reflected the challenging and delicate approach required to tackle the issue.

Thirty years ago, Mr. Charles Campbell and his sister Aurelia began lighting a big spruce tree in the front yard of their home at 840 E. Franklin St. in Hartwell, which became a holiday landmark as the years went by.

BOC continues land development debate

On the evening of Nov. 28, the Hart County BOC met for a prolonged meeting which included discussion of land development standards, amendment of language regarding a mobile home ordinance, and the intergovernmental agreement between Bowersville and Hart County.

Stowe to rely on leadership in his first year as head coach

The Mat Dogs will look to get more placements at state under first year head coach Jay Stowe. A season ago, the Mat Dogs had three wrestlers placed at state. Stowe will rely on them to step into a leadership role this season.
