Kemp wants to accelerate state income tax cuts

ATLANTA – Gov. Brian Kemp said Monday he will ask Georgia lawmakers to provide additional tax relief during the upcoming legislative session by accelerating a state income tax cut lawmakers adopted last year. House Bill 1437 set in place a reduction in the state’s income tax rate from 5.75% to 4.

Rucker tabbed for second team All-ACC

Former Dog helps carry Virginia Tech to a bowl game

Former Hart County and current Virginia Tech running back helps the Hokies win the Commonwealth Cup, and secure a bowl game for the second time in his Virginia Tech career. Malachi Thomas who set school records during his time with the Dogs has had a roller coaster of a career at Virginia Tech.

Hartwell native says, “Here I am Lord, send me”

A Hartwell native will begin a 2,198.4 mile journey on the Appalachian Trail over the course of five months with the intent to share the gospel along the way. Hartwell native Julie George found her interest in hiking when she and her son went on a backpack trip.

A Dream Come True

In the final minutes of the greatest rivalry in college football, I couldn’t think of how proud a man I called Pepoppy would be. If you know my family, you will know that almost everyone is a Georgia fan. It made sense though as my family moved to Watkinsville, Ga.

Red Raiders too much for Dogs

The Red Raiders hot start offensively didn’t end until the final whistle, as Madison County took down the Dogs, 86-56 on Nov. 28. Hart made the trip down to Danielsville to take on the No. 5 team in AAAA — the Madison County Red Raiders.
