BOC settles land development for 2024

The Hart County Board of Commissioners met for their final session of 2023 on Dec. 12 to discuss land development and other old business, as well as to approve several county Board appointment recommendations.

Mat Dogs fall at Elbert and split at Franklin

The Mat Dogs dropped both matches at the Elbert County Duals, but split to pick up their first region win at the Franklin County Duals. The Mat Dogs traveled to Elbert County on Nov. 29 to take on the Mat Devils and Harlem High School.

Seventeen Dogs make All-Region

Region 8-AAA announced on Dec. 4 their All-Region honors as Hart County had six Dogs on the first team, six Dogs on the second team, and five Dogs who were honorable mentions. Six Dogs were tabbed for first team All-Region honors.

Basketball teams sweep Elbert, but get swept by Jefferson

After sweeping Elbert County at home, both Hart County boys and girls basketball teams fell to Jefferson on the road. Hart hosted their cross county rival Elbert County in the Dog Pound on Dec.1. For the girls, it was a back and forth game early on as neither team looked like they would pull away.

Georgia again collecting gasoline tax

ATLANTA - Georgia’s on-again, off-again gasoline tax suspension is back off. Gov. Brian Kemp and the General Assembly allowed the latest temporary suspension to expire on Wednesday. That means the state Department of Revenue will resume collecting 29 cents per gallon from motorists.

HIS Radio is building for the future

HIS Radio, the nonprofit radio ministry, has officially broken ground on its new home just up the road in Greenville, SC. A part of the Radio Training group of stations, HIS radio began broadcasting back in 1983 in a small 1700 sq. ft. house.

Heart2Hart needs gift donations for children this Christmas

Hart County 501c3 charity Heart2Hart is collecting gifts for about 100 needy children this holiday season, and is still seeking donations. Letha Pettys, founder and coordinator of the nonprofit, says most of the children’s gifts have been supplied, but that many have yet to be served.
