Diamond Dogs played a huge role in Team Georgia securing the 7-5 win over Team Carolina in the 2024 edition of the FCA Baseball Classic.

Georgia entering vacation season short of game wardens

ATLANTA - With the traditional summer vacation season getting underway, Georgia continues to suffer from a chronic shortage of game wardens to serve its 2 million hunters and 600,000 to 700,000 anglers. The state Department of Natural Resources (DNR) boasted 250 game wardens back in 2000.

Georgia Rivers Network Gala to honor Pres. Jimmy Carter

President Jimmy Carter will receive the River Hero award from the Georgia River Network during its annual awards gala at the Atlanta History Center on August 22. Carter will receive the award for his enduring environmental legacy for Georgia’s rivers.

It doesn’t feel like summer...yet

With graduation and Memorial Day now in our rear-view mirrors, the unofficial start of summer has officially began. Over the years, I’ve made no secret of the fact that summer is my least favorite season.

Music festival brings in regional talent in support of Humane Society

On the evening of May 26th, the Hartwell Lakeside Music Festival decorated the shores with lively performances by regional talents in support of the Hart County Humane Society. Performances commenced right at four and extended well into the night, wrapping up just past 10 o’clock.
Mike Momb from Sisseton, SD with his 1950 Chevrolet 3100 custom pickup truck. Mike has been traveling to car shows for the past few months and has shown in 14 states. He came to Hartwell from a show in Maggie Valley and was leaving after Cars & Guitars to attend a show in Greenville, SC. Mike plans to continue traveling to car shows during the summer.

Cars and Guitars attracts large crowd, breaks car record

Despite an early end due to thunderstorms, Hartwell’s 17th annual Cars and Guitars festival on May 15th attracted a large crowd with vintage cars, live music performances, and family-friendly activities.

Homeowners highlight need for historic preservation

As Hartwell continues to grow, so does the need for its history to be preserved–specifically the historic architecture that lines its streets and helps maintain the character and charm it is known for. Such is the task of the Hartwell Historic Preservation Commission (HPC).
