Elizabeth Olney was named the city of Hartwell’s new Main Street Program Coordinator, replacing the recently retired Peggy Vickery.

Olney hired as Main Street Program Coordinator

Hartwell’s Downtown Development Authority (DDA) recently announced the hiring of Elizabeth Olney as the city’s new Main Street Program Coordinator. The DDA met June 12 and approved the hiring of Olney. Olney will take over the program from Peggy Vickery who retired in April 2024.

Commissioners debate TSPLOST and annexation

The Hart County Board of Commissioners held their regular meeting Tuesday night—a meeting filled with debate but little action taken. During commissioners’ reports, the mood was stable as each commissioner congratulated the Chamber of Commerce on recently celebrating 75 years of operation.

Two Hart County Middle School anglers captured the Georgia BASS Nation Junior State Championship which advanced them to Nationals in July. On May 31 and June 1, the Junior Division State Classic for Georgia BASS Nation was held on Lake Nottely in Blairsville, Ga.

New and old faces join the HCHS Football staff

Two new faces along with two familiar faces join the 2024 Hart County High School football coaching staff. Change is inevitable. But this past spring, four HCHS football coaches announced their departure from the program.

HCHS Softball gives back at annual Youth Camp

Hart County High School softball players and coaches invested into the future of their program at Hart County Little Bulldog Softball Camp. On June 3-5, HCHS softball players and coaches gathered alongside more than 30 campers to participate in the annual Little Bulldog Softball Camp.

HCHS Basketball builds future at Youth Camp

The Hart County High School’s boys and girls basketball teams and coaches spent three days equipping and building up the future of their programs with the annual Hart County Basketball Camp. On May 28-30, over 130 campers came to grow their basketball skills in the 2024 Hart County Basketball Camp.
